The Orchard Park Police Department is warning residents about a recent string of car and home break-ins.

Over the last 10 days, Orchard Park detectives said nearly 50 burglaries and larcenies were reported. Thieves are taking advantage of unlocked cars and homes.

Items taken include cash, credit cards, cameras, computers and televisions.

The latest break-in occurred early Saturday morning at a home on Stonehenge Drive.

Police observed a man entering and then reentering a running car parked in the driveway. Police attempted to stop the vehicle after it left, but the vehicle fled from police through the village towards Southwestern Boulevard.

The vehicle was later found burning at the end of Auckland Avenue. The suspect is still at large.

Orchard Park Police are asking all residents to lock your cars and houses. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Orchard Park Police at 662-6444.
