Opioid prevention starting with a conversation

On Tuesday Clarence High School held "Opioid Prevention Education Night" which looked to educate the public about addiction. 

"Tonight our opioid prevention efforts will stop this crisis long term" Erie County Legislator Ed Rath said. 

The night included a panel of previous addicts, experts, and local lawmakers to inform the public that addiction is not something that only occurs in large cities. 

"If you don't know that there is a serious opioid problem in Clarence and every other community in Western New York and across the country than you're just not paying attention" Clarence Town Judge Michael Powers said. 

The purpose of the night was to create an open and comfortable dialogue for parents and students to ask questions about addiction. 

According to Legislator Rath, he hopes that this session is just the beginning of a series to be done across Western New York.
