Saturday morning at around 2:15 am, an off-duty Orchard Park Police detective noticed a black 2013 Chevrolet sedan driving without a tire. The office noticed heavy sparks coming from the front wheel well area.

The vehicle was traveling on Armor Duells Road and continued onto Jewett Holmwood Road where the Orchard Park Police conducted a traffic stop. While the driver was still seated behind the wheel, the vehicle caught fire and officers immediately removed the driver.

According to officers, 25-year-old Annie J. Burns of Niagara Falls smelled of alcohol and showed signs of intoxication. Officers then administered field sobriety tests to her which she failed.

She was arrested for DWI and returned to the Orchard Park Police station where she submitted to a breath test, resulting in a reported .14 percent BAC reading.

The vehicle sustained heavy damage and the fire was extinguished by the Orchard Park Fire Company.

Burns was issued traffic tickets for DWI and other traffic violations and is to appear in Town court at a later date. No injuries occurred to the driver or police.
