In an attempt to curb a 'disturbing trend,' one Canadian police department announced that it will post the names of people charged with impaired-related criminal driving offenses every Monday on its website.
The York Regional Police say they will doing this to "make impaired driving socially unacceptable and so that members of our community can assist with notifying police if these offenders choose to drive while under suspension."
This past weekend, York Regional Police say they charged 16 drivers with 27 impaired-related criminal driving charges. That brings their total number of people charged for the year to 1,400.
The York Regional Police serve more than one million Ontario residents just north of Toronto.
