Jonathan Beckman says the Community Missions in Niagara Falls has not only helped him but many people across the area. “It changed my life, which it can do for a lot of people,” he said.
Community Missions is hoping people remember them this Giving Tuesday. “It's a reminder for people give back to people to give back to whatever causes they support during holidays,” Christian Hoffman of Community Missions said.
Rainforest Cafe, Friday's, Panera Bread and others will be donating a portion of their proceeds Tuesday to the organization. Other local groups are also doing their part.
“The Niagara Falls Public Library is launching their Food for Fines. Anyone who has fines with their library books can reduce those fines by bringing in non-perishable food items for pantry,” Hoffman said.
Beckman said it makes a difference for everyone involved. “A lot of good things come out of this. It helps people that don’t have much and the more people give the better it is for everyone,” he said.
People are also donating services on this day of giving.
“We have leadership Niagara kids coming in for this Giving Tuesday to do various project. One of the projects is improving the pantry,” Hoffman said.
Now they are getting the word out to the community through the businesses, organizations and social media. “It's called #GivingTuesday and we are using social media to get people behind it,” Hoffman said.
