150 children packed the halls and exhibits of the Buffalo Science Museum Wednesday night for a Lights on After School rally.

This is a national event that usually takes place in October, but scheduling forced Erie County Youth Bureau Planning Coordinators to move it to a November date.

The event brings out after school programs in Erie County to meet with children and guardians for a night of fun workshops and activities.

It's meant to showcase the options for children, as well as advocate to local government officials to bring additional and more affordable after school programs to communities.

"The goal is we'd never want parents to feel like they're left out or kids cant attend or be part of a group where they can be more emotionally, or socially, or physically as well helped throughout their lives," said Talisa King, an advocacy planner for the event.

She says that for every one child that is in afterschool care, there are two that are waiting to get into a program.
