The Niagara Falls Police Department is hosting classes about active shooters. The department is challenging their community to think about this question: What would you do in an active shooter situation?

“It goes beyond the police department. It really is up to everybody to make sure that these schools are safe,” said Superintendent Bryan DalPorto.

The Niagara Falls Police believes the answer comes down to three basic answers: run, hide or fight.

To prevent a shooting, police say the best thing to do is to report anything that seems suspicious.

Police also believe the state should be providing funding to put an armed student resource officer in every school. Echoing what the Niagara County Legislator voted on, Tuesday night.

Officers with the Niagara Falls Police Department say they will continue to offer classes on active shooter situations.
