This spring, construction on a new playground and exercise course at Liberty Park will begin.

Niagara Falls residents were able to vote 'yes' on the project through the Participatory Budgeting Process, which gives "the public direct control of neighborhood spending."

The outdoor play space will be located at the corner of Forest Avenue and 19th Street. It will include a physical fitness course for all ages, with workouts accessible via a mobile app.

“We are creating dynamic public spaces that feel different than typical parks and playgrounds. Including Destination Niagara USA’s unique look will let residents know that Liberty Park is theirs and a place to be proud of,” said Niagara Falls Community Development Director Seth Piccirillo.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant program is funding the entire park improvement project.

“This project driven by resident input, continues a series of investments that bring people together and strengthen local neighborhoods," said Congress Brian Higgins.
