New name on deck for Coca-Cola Field

You will soon be able to add the name Coca-Cola Field to a list that includes Pilot Field, North AmeriCare Park and Dunn Tire Park. 

The Bisons announced today Coca-Cola is not renewing the naming rights to the downtown ballpark, clearing the way for a fifth name for the 30 year-old sports facility. 

The city of Buffalo, which owns the park, will put the naming rights up for bid. 

"Beginning in 2019, the Bisons and Coca-Cola are excited to extend our long-term and very important partnership in a meaningful way," the Bisons said in a statement. "While this will no longer include the naming rights for the ballpark following this season, we will be working closely with Coca-Cola to transition to the next phase of our successful partnership."

The stadium has been known as Coca-Cola field since the 2009 season. Since 2015, the city has replaced thousands of red seats in the special reserve and 100 section with wider green seats as part of a multi-million dollar capital improvement project. 

The Bisons open their season on the road at Rochester April 6th and hold their home opener April 12th at 2:05 p.m. against Indianapolis.
