The mother of a woman shot and killed by her fiancé claims the man got away with murder, and she wants the district attorney to reopen her daughter's case.

Mary Moss' daughter, Angela died six years ago, but her fiancé, Ronald Epps, never faced any charges.

But Epps did become the sole beneficiary on Moss' life insurance just seven weeks prior to her death, and then tried to cash-in on the policy after Moss died.

Years later, the U.S. District Attorney's office brought insurance fraud charges against Epp, and in order to prove Epps had committed the crime, U.S. Attorney William Hochul had to prove he had also killed Moss. In August, the jury ruled that Epps was guilty of insurance fraud, and thus, also of killing Moss.

"This is the first time our office has been used to use a federal fraud law to convict a stone-blooded murderer like Ronald Epps," said Hochul.

Epps still faces sentencing, and he could receive up to 35 years in prison for fraud, but Mary Moss said that's not enough.

"He's the devil himself," Moss said. "I hope they send him away for good."

Moss is asking Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita to charge Epps with murder.

7 Eyewitness News has reached out to Sedita's office and has not heard back.
