The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens is operating under extended hours on Monday and Tuesday because one of its corpse flowers is in full bloom.

A blooming corpse flower is a rare event, they bloom on average once every six to 10 years. The corpse flower currently in bloom at the botanical gardens, named "Morty," last bloomed in 2014. At the time, the gardens saw a record attendance of more than 5,000 visitors in three days.

Blooms only last approximately 24 to 48 hours, and are accompanied by a strong, unpleasant odor.

To accommodate extra visitors, the gardens will be open from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. According to the gardens' website, admission is as follows:

$11 Adults
$10 Seniors (62+)
$9 Students (13+ with ID)
$6 Kids 3-12
Kids 2 and under are free
Garden Members are free
