Millennials can be blamed for a lot of things, but ruining Christmas trees is not one. In fact, millennials have been increasing tree sales.
According to the National Christmas Tree Association, from 2013-2017 millennials have led to a 17% increase in tree prices. That is due to an increase in demand from millennials wanting real trees more.
They say this is due to millennials wanting a cleaner ecological footprint, but also, because of nostalgia.
"I think it's just part of the tradition," Millennial mother of two Amanda Wolfley said, "and you're used to it growing up and you just want to continue it on to show my kids."
This is something that local tree sellers have noticed.
"It's nice to see (more millennials out), and its wonderful for the families to come out" Bill Zittel of Zittels said.
