A number of men, wearing women's high heel shoes, walked a mile on University of Buffalo's South Campus on Sunday.

The annual event, organized by Crisis Services, is meant to raise awareness about the impact of rape, sexual assault and gender violence.

“We are experiencing a watershed moment in our country where men and women of all ages are standing up to say #NoMore to gender violence. Walk a Mile is an opportunity for our community to channel that energy and support survivors,” said Caitlin Powalski, Director of the Advocate Program at Crisis Services.

According to Crisis Services, they responded to 12,165 NYS Domestic & Sexual Violence Hotline and Erie County Domestic Violence Helpline calls and provided intervention and support to 1,211 domestic and sexual violence victims at hospitals across Erie County last year.
