Lights, camera and action! 'Marshall,' a movie based on the life of the Thurgood Marshall, the first African-American Justice of the Supreme Court, begins filming in Buffalo Monday.

Cameras will be rolling in the Dillon Courthouse downtown, which is no longer in use. City Hall will also be featured in the movie.

One of the reasons why the director picked Buffalo was due to its architecture.

The movie focuses on a case in which Thurgood Marshall defends an African-American charged with a horrendous crime in a racially charged era.

The New York State Film Tax Credit played a role in the movie being filmed in Buffalo. The film reserved more than 1,000 hotel rooms and is expected to pump close to $5 million into the local economy.

Shooting is expected to go through early July.
