25 year-old Dydisci Martin is facing a second degree murder charge after his roommate's boyfriend was found dead in the basement of the home he shared with her.

Nearly ten months to the day that 48 year-old Leon Nelson, better known to family and friends as Bruno, was murdered, his alleged killer finally faced a judge.

Dydisci Martin was arraigned in Erie County Court following a grand jury indictment. According to prosecutors and Erie County District Attorney John Flynn, Martin was roommates with Nelson's girlfriend at 196 May Street in Buffalo's Schiller Park neighborhood.

Flynn says Nelson's girlfriend had gone out of town the weekend of July 28th of 2017. When she returned, she realized she could not reach Nelson. Nelson's body was found in the basement of the home by police with a gunshot wound to the head the following Monday. Flynn says prosecutors do believe they have a motive, but will not release that to the public to protect the case.

Nelson's family filled the courtroom on Tuesday morning for Martin's arraignment. Nelson's uncle, Brian Bryant says, "We have had a huge hole in our heart, now we feel as though this is the start of closure, giving our family closure with the arrest."

Martin moved out of the home following the alleged homicide. He's currently being remanded without bail until a new judge can be assigned to the case, because of court being in special session at the time of his arraignment.

Martin was an employee of the Delta terminal at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport.
