It's Make-A-Wish week in western New York. Throughout the upcoming days, the organization hopes to spotlight the need for donations and volunteers to make dreams come true.

The organization works to grant wishes of all kinds to children with life-threatening illnesses. This week alone, it plans to grant at least five wishes.

One recent wish granted was for 9-year-old Amaya, who suffers from life-threatening medically controlled seizures and water in her brain. Volunteers built a playhouse in her backyard, a place that Amaya calls "special to me."

On Tuesday, Mayor Byron Brown (D-Buffalo) will make a proclamation in honor of the week.

97Rock's Larry Norton will also put on the 21st Make-A-Wish Radio-Thon from 6 a.m. on Thursday, September 17th through 10 a.m., September 18th. Norton will be live on the air for 28 hours raising money for Make-A-Wish! All money raised stays local.
