The Buffalo Bills have nominated linebacker Lorenzo Alexander for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award.

This is the second year Alexander's teammates, family and members of the community nominated him for the prestigious award.

Defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier told BuffaloBills.com that the veteran defensive player is, "a tremendous leader and a guy that we count on a great deal to make a difference for our football team, both on and off the field.”

Alexander not only makes a difference in the locker room but in the community as well.

Just recently, 7 Eyewitness News partnered up with the American Diabetes Association with support from The Lorenzo Alexander A.C.E.S Foundation to present the Type $1 Campaign.

The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award is given to players that show a commitment to helping communities off the field as well as leadership on the field.

Thirty-one other players from across the NFL have been nominated for this prestigious award.
