The man in the driver's seat of General Motor's Tonawanda Engine Plant for more than a decade is ready to put his career in park.
Plant manager Steve Finch will retire December 1st after 41 years with GM.
Finch began his career at the Chevrolet Gear and Axle Plant in Buffalo in 1976. He moved to Michigan in 1978, serving in several leadership roles with the automaker before moving back to Western New York and stepping into his current role in 2006.
Since returning, GM has pumped nearly three billion dollars into the River Road plant.
Finch is also active in the Western New York community, serving on the advisory board of the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County and the boards of the AAA of Western New York and the Buffalo Urban League.
Finch will be succeeded by Ram Ramanujam, who most recently served as assistant plant manager of Orion Assembly in Lake Orion, Michigan.
