BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Erie County Sheriff's Office says scammers claiming to be deputies are calling county residents.

Complaints are coming in from across the county. Deputies say scammers are falsely representing themselves as members of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.

These scammers are leaving messages on residents phones advising residents to call them back or they will be arrested. Area codes 716, 410 and 718 have been used.

The Erie County Sheriff's Office asks that if you do receive a phone from a scammer to hang-up and don't respond.

Deputies are also reminding you to never release any personal information such as credit card information.
