BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — It sounds like a plot from a movie: kidnap an eyewitness in a murder trial just hours before he's set to take the stand.
That's what 20 year-old Leonnes Davis and 41 year-old Leshard Kyser are accused of. They're charged with two counts of intimidating a witness, tampering with a witness and kidnapping.
Prosecutors say the pair kidnapped a key witness in the murder trial of Jonathan Grumble, killed in May of 2017. The witness was driven to Richmond, Virginia on December 12th of 2018 by Davis and Kyser and left there. Through police interviews, Buffalo Police detectives were able to locate the witness and bring him back to Buffalo so he could testify.
Davis is being remanded without bail because of his prior criminal history. Kyser's bail is set at $300,000. The two will be co-defendants.
