Study: pesticides found in 70% of washed produce

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Environmental Working Group has released it's annual list of fruits and vegetables that are most likely to contain pesticides known as "The Dirty Dozen."

This year's list has the usual offenders: strawberries, apples and spinach.

New this year -- kale. Researchers found residue from at least two pesticides on 92-percent of the kale they tested.

This year's report also says that 70-percent of produce in the U.S. pesticides, even after washing.

Researchers also found that avocado, onion, sweet corn and pineapple have the least amount of pesticide residue.
