WASHINGTON D.C. (WKBW) — "If New York isn’t going to treat them better, I would recommend they go to another state where they can get a great job,” President Trump said in an interview with the Regional Reporters Association, according to the New York Post.

He suggested that upstate New Yorkers would be better off moving out of state. Trump claims people will have better chances at landing a job if they moved to states with more manufacturing facilities.

This isn't the first time he told New Yorkers to leave. He told the Wall Street Journal in 2017 that people who live in "Upper New York" would have more success in states like Wisconsin, which scored a major manufacturing project that year.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo blamed the president for burdening New Yorkers and other democratic states with a GOP tax bill that caps state and local tax deductions at $10,000.
