Lockport man sentenced for stealing donations to support vets

There will be no jail time for the Lockport man who stole a $5,500 donation from a holiday findariaser for WNY Heroes, Inc.

48-year-old Scott Hemperly was sentnced in Erie County Court to 5 years of probation and 250 hours of community service.

Prosecutors say in December, 2017, the Jeep Wrangler Club of WNY hosted events in Clarence and the Town of Tonawanda to collect food, toys and monetary donations for WNY Heroes.

That money was never received.

Hemperly pleaded guilty to grand larceny.

Hemperly has also returned the missing money to WNY Heroes, Inc.
