BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Not everybody has the opportunity to have a roof over their head or be warm and cozy during the coldest nights in Buffalo. That's where Code Blue comes in, an organization that seeks out homeless people in frigid temperatures to offer transportation and shelter.

"I'll have someone call me and say there's a women outside sleeping with her 7 year old," said Code Blue driver, Will Marcy, who dedicates multiple nights a week to searching and convincing the homeless to come inside.

Code Blue is the city's emergency safety weather plan when windchill temperatures fall below 15 degrees windchill.

"For the most part it seems like the homeless community is close knit in a way," Outreach volunteer, Brenna McDonald, said. "That's what God would want me to be doing so that's why I'm doing it."

Last year Code Blue offered help to more than 600 individuals and in the last two years the group has reduced Buffalo's homeless death toll to zero.
