GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Grand Island Fire Company rescued a person stranded on the ice in the Niagara River early Wednesday.

According to U.S. Border Patrol agents, the individual was riding a personal watercraft when they became stranded on the ice and water, along with two other individuals. Officials say the incident involved three individuals attempting to enter the U.S. illegally.

Police and fire also issued a warning that even with the warmer weather on the horizon, it is still too cold to use a watercraft in the Niagara River.
