Fire seriously injures one, Jamestown man faces arson charge

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WKBW) — Jamestown Police say a man is facing multiple charges, including arson, after a fire left a man seriously burned.

Police say authorities arrived to the scene of a house fire on Weeks Street around 11:30 Friday, the lower front half of the home was fully involved.

An upstairs male occupant was able to escape but was seriously burned, he was transported to UPMC Chautauqua and then later transferred to ECMC where he is being treated for serious burns.

49-year-old Danny N. Phanco was taken into custody at the scene and police say he faces the following charges: second degree arson, second degree criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.

Phanco was transported to the Jamestown City Jail where he was arraigned and then committed to the Chautauqua County Jail.

The victim's condition is unknown at this time.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
