CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WKBW) — $80 million worth of renovations at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport will kick off Monday morning.

Elected officials such as Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul and Congressman Brian Higgins will be on hand as the construction gets underway in the former limo lot at 9 a.m.

Back in December, the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority unveiled renderings and descriptions of the work, promising major construction would begin in the spring. That's exactly what's happening.

The work is aimed at addressing pedestrian flow, curbside congestion, meet and greet facilities, baggage claim capacity, and security.

The project is set to be completed in 2021.
