Family: Buffalo man killed and dismembered wife

TOWN OF ALLEN, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Buffalo man shot and killed his wife in Allegany County, then began dismembering her body, the victim's family tells 7 Eyewitness News.

Phillip Farren, 52, is charged with second-degree murder. State police are not releasing the victim's name but her family has identified her as Amber Farren.

Troopers responded to Holdridge Road in the Town of Allen Friday after receiving a check the welfare call.

Police say Farren eventually "made admissions." According to investigators, he shot and killed the victim earlier in the week and was in the process of dismembering the victim's body when troopers arrived.

Farren was arraigned via Skype. He is being held at the Allegany County Jail with no bail.
