BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — It seems like we've rarely seen the sun this spring season, and the cool temperatures have been discouraging for folks who enjoy gardening and landscaping.

It's been a slow start to the season for Grabber and Sons Landscaping and Nursery.

Assistant Manager Meg Syracuse said people just haven't been thinking about gardening because of the weather. But she said that will change very soon.

"This weekend it's going to be 60 and 70, so it's a perfect weekend to get your vegetables in," she said. "And then in the beginning of the week I checked and rain is coming, so anything you plant this weekend will get a nice healthy dose of water."

Syracuse said this is the perfect time to buy plants, seeds, soil and get your lawn ready.

And Garden Expert Sally Cunningham said you can still do some gardening care before this weekend, like getting rid of weeds.

She did say there is a bright side to all the rain.

"Yes, the wet season slows it down. But the good part is it also makes the daffodils and the tulips last a long time," she said.

Cunningham said to make sure not to walk on wet soil. And to protect your plants from bunnies and deer by using a make-shift cage that covers the plants.
