New York's Junior Senator made an appearance in Cheektowaga on Tuesday.

Kirsten Gillibrand was at Union East Elementary to announce a new push to secure student fitness programs for schools across WNY and the entire country.

She also spoke about her support for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as she runs for President. Gillibrand says Clinton's experience in Washington gives her the edge over any of her competitors.

"I think her work as Secretary of State added a level of knowledge and sophistication on the issue of national security," Gillibrand stated in an interview with 7 Eyewitness News. She went on to stress the importance of Clinton's current position, saying, "given what's happening in Syria, and given what's happening with terrorism around the world."

Clinton's support, however, is dwindling. A new Monmouth University poll has her losing to competitor Bernie Sanders in New Hampshire, a key swing state.

Her lead in Iowa is also shrinking.
