Personnel from the U.S. Justice Department will be in Erie County come election day (Tuesday, November 6). Erie County is one of 35 jurisdictions in 19 states, where the Civil Rights Division will be deploying monitors to ensure compliance with federal voting laws.
"Voting rights are constitutional rights, and they're part of what it means to be an American," said Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
Since the passage of the Voting Rights Act in 1965,the Division has regularly monitored elections around the country to protect the rights of all voters.
