A Jamestown man is facing charges accused ot stealing more than $7,500 from Medicaid by illegally billing for phony rides.

New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced Monday the arrest of Haimid Thompson.

Prosecutors say Thompson submitted false claims for rides he claimed he provided to a Medicaid recipient through the tax service 716 Transportation, Inc.

Thompson allegedly paid an individual to request transportation services from 716 and then falsely reported to the company that he provided daily rides for that individual.

Thompson was arrested on a 30-count felony complaint and was released on $5,000 bail. He is charged with Grand Larceny, Offering a False Instrument for Filing, Falsifying Business Records and Prohibited Practice by a Medical Assistance Provider.

The arrest is the third in an ongoing AG investigation called "Operation Ghost Ride," which examines Medicaid transit scams across New York.
