Residents in the Veteran Heights neighborhood of Town of Niagara are now fearing it will be another year of looking at piles of trash along the elevated sides of the I-190 northbound.

"How embarrassing is that for us to have people come into our yard and have people disgusted at the view," said one woman who told us her complaints to state officials have been ignored.

The trash pile has been accumulating over the past several years as drivers throw items from vehicles and debris is blown off trucks and pickups.

The New York State Thruway said the inclined sides of the I-190 are not its responsibility but is the jurisdiction of the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT).

7 Eyewitness News reached out to NYSDOT to see if there is a plan in place to deal with the cleanup.  So far, there has been no response.

Reporter Ed Reilly spent the day talking to residents about the problem.
