BlueRock Solar, a Syracuse based energy supply company, is creating an 18 acre solar farm off the 190 between Bedell and Industrial drive.

 Here's how it works:
Energy is put on the grid, generated from the solar panels. The customer still receives power the same way.
Depending on how much energy they use, they sign up for a percentage of the solar farm and get a share of the power.
The customer will then get credit for the electricity produced by the panels.

BlueRock Solar is currently in five states with more than 20,000 customers.

Company leaders say the first phase of the project will have a 6,200 solar panels with the ability to power roughly 300 homes.
Construction on the project is expected to begin later this spring.
