The Hispanic community celebrated the 15th Puerto Rican and Hispanic Day of Western New York Parade along Niagara Street today.

“I remember my country, I remember a lot of things and I am very happy and I am very proud,” Anna Maria Medna, who attended the parade, said.

The parade’s theme is ‘Unidos Siempre’ meaning always united. That is exactly what parade organizers hoped for.

“It is an opportunity to bring everybody together, not just Hispanics and Latinos but just the whole community and the whole city of Buffalo,” Octavio Villegas, Sergeant of Arms with the Parade Committee said.

Parade organizers expected over 3,000 people to celebrate and say the parade used to take place in September, but decided to make it a few weeks earlier to take advantage of the summer weather.

The festivities continue into Sunday with concerts in LaSalle Park. For more information, click here.
