One of the newest additions to the Elmwood Village is finally getting ready to open.

Hero Certified Burgers located at 976 Elmwood Avenue, and the corner of Bidwell Parkway will open this Saturday morning. John Lettieri, the president of Hero Certified Burgers, tells 7 Eyewitness News Anchor Jeff Russo that the doors will finally open at 11:30 a.m.

The location was originally intended to open in late 2014 but the process of getting permits and licenses delayed this project for months. The local owners planned to open the restaurant in July but were again delayed.

"Everyone was really upset that we couldn't be open on June 30th because that's when the concert series started in (Bidwell) park," said local co-owner Adam Sumlim. "We tried really hard to be ready for that day. We've really been pushing. When inspectors come and want the change we have to do the change. We are just trying to meet everyone's needs and get this done."

The restaurant will have seating for around 20 inside and will utilize the patio for another 25 customers.

Hero Certified Burgers has more than 50 locations in the Toronto area. The Elmwood location will be the first in the United States.

The restaurant offers gourmet and hormone free burgers and chicken. Sumlin says he plans to have upwards of 50 employees at the restaurant.
