Here's why AAA predicts gas prices will drop in the coming months

Drivers will likely pay less to fill up their gas tanks this fall.

AAA predicts the national average will drop to about $2.70 per gallon, and could potentially fall even more. That's more than 25-cents cheaper than the record high for this year that was set back in May.

Experts say the switchover to winter gas blends and lower demand for gasoline would cause prices to drop.

But several factors could prevent prices from falling. AAA says the volatility of crude oil markets, potential U.S. sanctions against Iran and the hurricane season may all play roles in the fall gas prices.
