The annual Clarence GOP Picnic brought dozens to the Town Park Thursday evening.  This year was different, though, with an open invitation to all potential candidates for New York's 27th congressional seat.

7Eyewitness News caught up with Legislator Edward Rath, Erie County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw and Senator Rob Ortt as they walked into the pavilion.

Just a short drive away at Clarence Town Hall, the town's Democratic Committee met.  Their main message Thursday: don't allow embattled Congressman Chris Collins to run for an open seat in their town if someone steps down.

When asked if they think endorsed Democrat Nate McMurray will win Collin's seat in November, Michelle Schoeneman, co-founder of Citizen's Against Collins, said: "I do think it's going to turn blue.  I think we're at a tipping point here."
