One Tonawanda man is fighting his battle with brain cancer by leaning on his three favorite things: theater, friendship and the Buffalo Bills.

John Cronyn found out he had Glioblastoma Multiforme tumor in March, and had surgery on the tumor shortly after.

His wife, Maria, also has medical problems that keep her from working, so the couple reached out to their old friends from when they were growing up for help.

Those friends have stepped up, donating more than $4,000 to a fundraising campaign on GiveForward.com, and also just doing little things to help brighten the Cronyns' days during this difficult time. For instance, one childhood friend, Glenn Kane, sent them a LaNova pizza to enjoy during Sunday's football game between the Bills and the New England Patriots.

"In this day and age you have to pay it forward," said Kane. "Especially for a friend in need."

The Cronyns said they often feel alone in their struggle, so it's nice to be reminded that there are people who care.

"It's unfortunate that this had to happen, but it's great that I got back in touch with people who I was friends with back in high school," John Cronyn said.

If you would like to donate to the Cronyns, visit their fundraising page here.
