The Dunkirk Historical Society reports it is working with police to track down four works of art believed to be stolen from the Dunkirk Historical Museum.

The historical society first reported the works were stolen in a post on social media on Sunday. Included in the post is a picture of one of the works, painted by Dunkirk native George W. Eggers.

The historical society says the works were donated by Eggers' grandson and wife. It is unclear when these works may have been stolen.

The society has been in contact with the Dunkirk Police Department to offer a reward for the return of the paintings. A specific amount has not been posted.

Anyone with information on the incident or the current location of the artwork is asked to contact the Dunkirk Police Department or the Dunkirk Historical Museum.
