The fate of the old Budwey’s on Kenmore Avenue should be decided by next month.

Tuesday morning attorneys for the Dash family met with members of the Buffalo Planning Board to propose their newest plans to turn the former supermarket into a 505 unit Uncle Bob’s Storage Facility.

At the meeting there were a handful who spoke opposing the plan, saying it’s not beneficial for the community.

“My message to the community is to get behind the project,” Jeff Palumbo, attorney for the Dash family said. “Embrace the fact that there's somebody willing to spend millions of dollars in that area.”

The original plan when the building was purchased was to turn the site into a Dash’s supermarket but Palumbo says it just doesn’t make sense.

Still, community advocates like Darren Cotton say they want to see more done.

“[It’s not] an asset to the community. It [should be] something that people are proud to say you know this is on Kenmore Avenue, but I really don't see that in a blank brick wall facing Kenmore Avenue," he argued.

The Buffalo Planning Board ruled that they will make a decision on the site by their next session as long as another community meeting with site planners and those in the neighborhood takes place.
