Buffalo Dream Center Pastor Eric Johns is celebrating his 20th year of spending Thanksgiving week on the Buffalo streets, homeless.

"It makes you appreciate your life and the things you have in it," Johns said, "It really gives you a different perspective."

Johns says that being outside for Thanksgiving is all about raising awareness about the homeless population in Buffalo.

"What we want to do this week is touch the hearts of people."

So he and two of his sons spend the week in shelters and waiting in lines for food. He hopes that it inspires Western New York into giving back, and donating to those who are in need.

"Stir people up, maybe cause them to do something that they would not normally do."

This week begins a month of giving for Buffalo Dream Center. Over December they will be donating meals to 3,000 families and Christmas gifts to 5,000 kids.

If anyone would like to donate to Buffalo Dream Center, visit their website here.
