Thousands braved the spotty rain Saturday to eat, shop and dance during the weekend-long Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts.

More than 170 artists--85% of them local--are selling their pieces to event goers. Multiple stages scattered up and down Elmwood showcase local musicians and dancers and food trucks and beer tents line Auburn Avenue.

Chairman Joe Dipasquale said not much has changed since he began the event 19 years ago, but it's carrying on exactly as planned.

"This is the vision we envisioned 19 years ago and it's holding, still," he said.

Kids also have a place to try their hand at painting, crafting and evening making a kazoo, through Kidsfest.  This year's theme is "The Beehive," which promotes teamwork.

The festival runs throughout the weekend.  7 Eyewitness News is a proud sponsor of the Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts.
