A message posted on a Facebook patient support group for Dr. Eugene Gosy claims the pain management physician will be leaving his practice at 100 College Parkway, Williamsville in a month to begin work with Invision Health, which is also in Williamsville.

The big questions now are what does this mean for Dr. Gosy's chronic pain patients and is it permissible under bail stipulations set by a federal judge?

Invision Health declined to comment and Dr. Gosy's defense attorney, Joel Daniels, said there are "no immediate plans."  However, Daniels told 7 Eyewitness News that he is in contact with the U.S. Attorney's Office about Dr. Gosy's future medical practice.

In November 2017, a superseding indictment charged Dr. Gosy with 166 counts of unlawfully prescribing controlled substances resulting in the death of six patients.

It followed an initial indictment in April 2016 which created a huge outcry from Gosy's numerous chronic pain patients.  Many found few other doctors would help them with their pain management after Dr. Gosy's office closed for a period of time.

As part of bail stipulations set forth by a federal judge in the case, Dr. Gosy was allowed to continue practicing medicine provided that he did not directly write prescriptions and performed his medical duties under the supervision of a qualified physician.

Several patients we contacted said they were unaware of Dr. Gosy leaving his practice, which is no longer called Gosy and Associates but is now Pain Management Associates of WNY.  The practice has also recently opened a second location in Orchard Park.

One patient we talked with told us the practice has become much more strict about issuing prescriptions for narcotic pain killers and the supervision of patients.

"You have to be available every month for a pill count."
