Governor Andrew Cuomo says he's disappointed about rumors surrounding New York state Senator Marc Panepinto.

Multiple reports claim the Joint Commission on Public Ethics is looking into complaints made against the senator, who announced last week that he would not seek reelection for the 60th district.

Governor Cuomo commented on the reported investigation during a visit to Niagara Falls on Tuesday.

"I don't know what the situation is. From the sound of it, I don't want to know what it is," said Governor Cuomo. "I am very, very disappointed when a person who runs for public office and holds himself out to be trusted by his community, winds up involved in an assorted affair. So I don't know the details, I don't want to know the details, but let somebody else run who will respect the position."

Senator Panepinto has previously told The Buffalo News that no formal investigation had been launched.
