It’s been almost 10 years and Sister Jean Klimczak said she has forgiven the man who killer her sister.
“I’m challenged to forgive everyday,” Sister Jean said.
Sister Karen Klimczak was known for spreading peace across Western New York, including Buffalo. She even reopened The Bissonette House as a halfway house for ex-cons.
“Sister Karen followed and was inspired by Jesus,” Sister Jean said.
On Good Friday in 2006 Sister Karen was reported missing. Investigators later discovered she had been killed by one of the former prisoners she was helping.
“You can ask anyone and she’s iconic they remember where they were when she was murdered,” Executive Director for Peaceprints of Western New York, Cindi McEachon said.
On Friday, dozens attended a special Good Friday Service at SS Columba-Brigid Church. During the program quotes were read from Sister Karen’s personal journal.
One Peaceprints of WNY volunteer said this was an event that holds a place close to his heart. “This is a very, very, very spiritual situation here because Sister Karen created something for a lot of people to actually see,” said Peaceprint of WNY volunteer, Dove.
Many people said Sister Karen’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
