The happy ending is on hold for Cockaignein Cherry Creek.
The ski center, which went out of business in 2011 when a fire burned its lodge to the ground, will not open for the 2018-19 season.
A new ownership group had planned to bring Cockaigne back to life this December. But owners Isaac Gratto and Rex Butcher say there is too much work that needs to be done to get the slopes ready for this season.
"That being said, this is NOT how our story ends," reads a post online. "Our focus is on completion of the lodge and serving the community with a place to stop for food, drinks, and the family-friendly atmosphere that Cockaigne Resort strives for."
When the 425 acre resort does open, it will feature 15 slopes, a terrain park, and a brand new lodge at the foot of the bunny hill.
