It's potentially a significant opportunity for the City of Buffalo.

A delegation from China spent Tuesday touring Buffalo looking into investment opportunities in advance manufacturing, life sciences and tourism. The delegation is from the province of Chongqing which is a region of China that boasts a population of 34-million people.

"There is a high level discussion that we are very proud of not just in life science but also how to collaborate to have economic growth together", said Dr. Johnson Lau, the CEO of the Buffalo based pharmaceutical company Athenex.

The delegation was invited by Athenex to visit Buffalo as talks between the company and Chinese officials continue on building a manufacturing plant in Chongqing. Athenex is also considering potential expansion in Buffalo. "We have plans to keep on expanding and all of this is still under discussion. Nothing is finalized yet", said Lau.

Athenex is the former Kinex which is located on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.
