Modern, accessible and energy efficient, that is how the State DOT is describing plans for the new Buffalo Train Station.

The DOT released renderings of the new station on Monday afternoon, ahead of a public information meeting being held at the Pierce Arrow Museum from 4p.m. to 7 p.m..

"A new train station that is easy to access and connects to other local transportation options will provide yet another boost for the Buffalo region,"  said Paul A Kraus, New York State Department of Transportation Acting Commissioner.  "Governor Cuomo's investments in Buffalo are paying off for residents and businesses in the area, which now enjoy a thriving economy and continued development opportunities."

The new station will be built at the same site as the current station on Exchange Street. It's expected to be more than twice the size of the existing station, with greater seating capacity in the waiting room, parking access - including a dedicated drop off and pick up area - and improved access for vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists. The passenger platform will be completely replaced and convenient pedestrian access will be provided to Washington and Main Streets.
