SUNY Buffalo State's new $6.9 million alumni and visitor center is now open.

The college held a ceremonial ribbon-cutting Thursday for the Jacqueline Vito LoRusso Alumni and Visitor Center.

The 10,800-square-foot, two-story facility at the corner of Rockwell Road and Grant Street, will be a gathering place for alumni, an information center for campus visitors, and a starting point for campus tours.

A combination of state grants and private donations funded the project, but LoRusso donated the most ($1 million). She received bachelor's and master's degrees in elementary education from the college, and has made previous gifts to the college.

"Buffalo State is indebted to Jacqueline Vito LoRusso for her tremendous support over the years, including the transformative gifts that made the Alumni and Visitor Center a reality," said James Finnerty, SUNY Buffalo State's vice president for institutional advancement.
